FINAL DECISION: I love, love, love Tiger. I would read a story about him going to the grocery store to buy stuff for dinner, but this story resolves some things from his novel so it is a wonderful companion. So glad to get another glimpse of my favorite Shifter couple.

THE STORY: In the middle of the night, Tiger gets the feeling that someone needs him and takes off. But his mate is not allowing him to endanger himself alone again and insists on going along. Tiger knows that someone, somewhere needs him and he has to go.

OPINION: I love when novellas in a series have a purpose. This one definitely is a must read in the series as it has some big secrets that are revealed. But what I love most is the characters of Tiger and Carly who already make such a loving unit.

I love Tiger because he is so honest and centered. He doesn't have the instincts or interest in deception so we always know exactly what he thinks and feels based upon his viewpoint. This story turns that on its head for a while when we don't understand his actions, but (of course) everything is neatly explained in the year.

The story is centered around the big reveal so I won't go into that because it would be a spoiler, but I did love seeing how Tiger and Carly relate to one another as a settled couple and Conner is a cutie.

The story has some action and drama and I loved seeing all the Austen Shifters again. The nice thing about this story is that it has consequence for the series and the characters.

And what is truly to love about this story are the characters. Ashley has created a whole society filled with multi-dimensional characters so their cameos here all have consequence and a nice homecoming feel.

I recommend this novella for everyone who is a fan of the series.

WORTH MENTIONING: We get to spend some time with Conner Morrissey as well. I hope we get to see him more in the series.

CONNECTED BOOKS: TIGER STRIPED is book 11.5 in the Shifters Unbound series. This novella is an update on the characters of Tiger and Carly from TIGER MAGIC. I recommend reading that book first to get to know the characters.

3.75 stars-- TIGER STRIPED by Jennifer Ashley is instalment 11.5 and novella in the author’s contemporary, adult SHIFTERS UNBOUND paranormal/fantasy romance series and follows Tiger, a lab-created shifter, and his mate Carly, previously introduced in TIGER MAGIC #5 as they go in search for a part of Tiger’s past.

SOME BACKGROUND Thousands of years in the past, the Fae created the shifters-a cross between beast and man-and in the ensuing time the Fae lost control and power over the battle creatures they had created for war. Approximately twenty years ago shifters were exposed to the human population. Out of fear, discrimination and specieism, the shifters were collared with Fae magic in the belief that it would control aggression; then they were forced into segregated communities known as Shiftertowns. There are several Shiftertowns located throughout America where shifters live in a relative but strained peace amongst their own kind.

Told from dual third person points of view (Tiger and Carly) TIGER STRIPED follows Tiger as he goes in search of someone or something. Awakened in the middle of the night by a psychic distress call; an unknown force he is unable to explain, Tiger does not hesitate to leave the warmth of his marital bed to hunt for the unknown. Not wanting her mate to walk into a trap, Carly does what come naturally and goes along with Tiger as he journeys towards the unknown. Along with Connor Morrisey, a young lion shifter who has stowed away in the back of his uncle’s truck, our trio crosses state lines, and risks reprisals from the Shifter Bureau, as Tiger continues to focus on his end goal. What ensues is a dramatic car chase with a darkened SUV, and a number of uniformed enforcers trying to protect what Tiger hopes to unleash.

TIGER STRIPED is a very quick read; a short story that reveals a little bit of Tiger’s past, and the ramifications of a controlled experiment that went horribly wrong. There is a little bit of everything action, suspense, romance, betrayal and love. TIGER STRIPED is a must read for fans of Jennifer Ashley’s SHIFTERS UNBOUND.
Very good novella in which Tiger finds his cub. A girl now going through her transition who is being held prisoner by some men working for the company who created Tiger and held him prisoner all those years. They had told him he had a son and it had died, when in reality they had simply moved the babe to another location and kept her locked up while they experimented on her. When she begins going through her transition she screams out in pain and agony, not understanding what's happening or what to do about it. A thousand miles away Tiger hears her and feels a pull to go save her. It isn't until he finds her that he realizes she's his long lost cub. In a battle to save and free her, Tiger, Carly and Conner must stop soldiers who want to kill them.

I've always liked Tiger. He's that big scary looking guy who turns into a teddy bear around children. Kids love him - all of them. His protective instinct guides him. He's scary smart but doesn't say much. Carly, his mate is amazing as well. A semi crazy girl who loves her mate with all her heart and understands him on a level no one else can. Their bond is incredible; the kind that love stories are written around.

All the regulars were here as well, Liam, Conner, Shaun and Dylan. A good little read that made doing laundry a little less tedious.
