3.25 Stars - Alex quickly realizes that Kit is a girl. He tries to keep her in his home and not out in public but Kit gets bored very fast and finds ways to sneak out. Knowing it's a futile battle, Alex dresses Kit in men's clothing and let's her go out and about. Sometimes with him and sometimes with just Alex's friends. Gradually Alex's lust for Kit grows into more and knows he could deny her nothing. There is a whole subplot of Kit staying with Alex to find out information about shipping for a Frenchman that they owe money too. She suspects it's Alex's. Alex in turn is working with the government to stop smugglers from getting weapons into France. Alex suspects Kit is part of this. Then Alex realizes Kit doesn't know that her father is a smuggler and Alex convinces her to wed him so that she will be protected. It was fairly entertaining but wanted more romantic dialogue and tension between them.

Lady Rogue Suzanne Enoch 9780060875244 Books Reviews

Enoch has such a wonderful imagination. I read her books when ever I see a new one.. I love my .
A worthy tale!!!
Another good writer, lots of wit, Suzanne Enoch and Julie Quinn are two of the best writer I've read. It doesn't take two or three chapters to get into her book, she grabs you right off the bat with her story.

I like to see independent women, especially during those times, when women didn't have any independence at all. To learn so much about the male makeup, if extremely interesting. Thank you for the knowledge shared in your book.

Beautiful cover, it made me want to buy the book.
good book
I'm in the middle of the book and so far I haven't hit upon a bit of romance. Isn't a romance book supposed to be romantic? The premise is a girl who passes for a man so well that not even his (her) closest friends detect she's a he. Totally unbelievable that a woman could be as beautiful as the book claims and still be able to fool even the closest friends into thinking she is a man... and not a sissy man either.

I'm only half way through the book after a week because every time I read it I fall asleep. I would not recommend this book. Maybe back when it was originally written that type of story sold but not anymore. And for heaven sake... when do we get to the romance??? I don't think I'll finish this book. What a shame because it wasn't cheap.
I wanted to like this because the premise was interesting, but there was just not enough insight into the motivations of the characters, or even the points along the way in the plot. The hero was especially unexplained... rake reformed, but why? Could have made better use of the chapters from his POV. The heroine was better. She started out kind of plucky and we understand that she's attracted to the hero, but then she didn't develop much. For example, okay, she's scared of actually having to act like a woman, but bam, put her in a dress and no problem, she's the belle of the ball! And did she love her father or not? For that matter, did HE love her or not? The gift at the end indicates yes, but it was barely explained. There were lots of little snippets thrown in to explain WHY things were the way they were (why her father was so bitter, why she had to dress up as a boy), but they always felt a bit hasty.
So many Regency romance novels follow the same or a similar storyline, and I'm not really complaining, obviously I read them! But it is very fun to have a novel that follows a divergent path.

Kit is a fun character, who doesn't like a woman who has been forced to dress as a man for most of her life? Who doesn't want to see her start behaving and wanting to be seen as a woman? Alex is a little less developed, but he is a great foil to Kit.

Trying not to give too much away, but if you like light spy/intrigue novels then this is a great fun read that (might) keep you guessing a tiny bit (I figured out most of it before the end). It was very satisfying to see their romance and misunderstandings get resolved (obviously, this isn't a spoiler since it is a romance novel!)
